Length: 8.25 miles
Total Elevation Gain: 1035 feet
Trail Type Distances:
4.00 mi. 2-track
4.25 mi. single track

This trail is an extension of Trail 1 (Dill Canyon), and departs from the Trail 1 loop
after 3.5 miles (at mouth of the winding canyon descent). Take a sharp left
(north) on a 2-track. After 0.25 miles, a single track on the left hand side links up
to a 2-track which leads northwest to a saddle. The 2-track continues down the
other side of the hill for 0.10 mile, where a single track turns to the right. The
single track winds its way across limestone outcrops toward a small quarry. From
the quarry, a winding and fast single track continues down the draw heading north
and eventually east through a low saddle. From here follow the Trailhead (TH)
signs for a trail that traverses the northern slope of the mountains.

Directions

The Copper Basin Bike Trailhead:

Is located on HWY 305 about 2.75 miles south Battle Mountain and I-80. The

trailhead is on the west side of HWY 305 just as you reach the hills. The trail

system is marked with orange flagging and brown Carsonite Signs. The loops

offer a variety of technical and aerobic challenges on a combination of single and

double track trails. Steep Climbs and fast technical descents wind through historic

mining areas, sagebrush covered canyons, and rocky ridge tops in the northern

Battle Mountain Range. Enjoy the trails for a quick 1-hour ride or a weekend long

adventure! Remember to prepare for the heat during summer months by riding at

dusk and dawn and bringing plenty of water.
